Welcome to 9th Island OCC
9th Island Outrigger Canoe Club brings the spirit of aloha and Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddling tradition to Las Vegas. We are a community of paddlers dedicated to the sport of outrigger canoe racing and the cultural traditions that come with it.
The name "9th Island" is a beloved nickname for Las Vegas among the Hawaiian diaspora — so significant that Nevada is often called the 9th Hawaiian island. Our club carries that identity with pride on the water at Lake Mead.
Our Mission
To provide educational, recreational and racing paddling programs for all skill levels. It is the goal of 9th Island OCC to expose people from all walks of life to the ancient Cultural Traditions and Aloha Spirit which embodies the sport of Outrigger Canoe Paddling. We encourage members of our Ohana to grow and develop the skills necessary to become racers if they so desire.
